About Us

Center City of Amarillo, Inc. is dedicated to the revitalization of Downtown Amarillo, by focusing community, social, recreational and economic interests in a historic core area.

• Center City began in 1991 when a group of concerned citizens joined together to preserve and revitalize Amarillo’s historic downtown area.

• Center City is a nationally recognized member of both the Texas and National Main Street programs. The Texas Main Street program is under the direction of the Texas Historical Commission.

• Center City is a private, nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization, governed by a volunteer board of directors

• Center City gets support from:

• Memberships and donations from businesses and individuals

• Proceeds from benefit events such as the Polk Street Block Party

• The City of Amarillo

Staff and Offices

Center City is housed in the historic Bivins home at 1000 S. Polk St., which is also the headquarters for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce.

• Executive Director is Beth Duke.
• Center City assistant is Sallye Hand.

Boundaries

The city of Amarillo has defined the boundaries of Center City as the central business district.

• East boundary – the railroad tracks
• North boundary – the railroad tracks
• West boundary – Van Buren Street
• South boundary – 12th Avenue
