The sounds of downtown will mingle with music in the summer as Center City of Amarillo begins "High Noon on the Square," a free weekly entertainment series on the old Potter County Courthouse lawn. This year's free concert series kicks off at noon Wednesday, June 6, with performers from the musical drama “Texas.” A different group will perform each Wednesday on the steps of the courthouse at Fifth Avenues and Taylor Street.

At “High Noon,” the music is free and lunch is available for $5. The Big Texan Steak Ranch will be preparing lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a menu of hamburgers, chips, tea or lemonade for $5 per person. All proceeds will benefit Center City of Amarillo. Tickets for the meal may be purchased at the event. “The performers and the menu change every week. From country to classical, we have something for everyone. The musicians and performers volunteer their time for the free entertainment,” said Beth Duke, Center City executive director. “This is one more way we can bring people to Center City. We believe Center City is everybody’s neighborhood.”
